PTV is the best Family Guy ever. Still on the Tivo.

Emily and I watched Failure to Launch last week and it was pretty good. We watched Ultraviolet with Cory and Sarah in Columbus and it is really really bad.

Tonight was the last im soccer game. We lost. It was fun though, my 5k running has really got some wind in me. I actually managed to kick the ball in the proper direction a few times too.

This past weekend was fun. Emily and I went to the Veranda Friday night. I got the "chef's special" ribeye and it was pretty good. Emily got her standard pecan grouper and it was rubbery like it had been thawed a little too long in the microwave. Plus Emily ordered mashed potatoes instead of the steamed veggies. The waitress brought it out with the veggies, took it back, and brought it back with a double serving of the other vegetable. We gave up. On Saturday I got up and ran my two miles. Cleaned up the apartment for most of the day and made a big grocery run to get ready for "Bring your own steak night." I started putting Mojo sauce and steamed vegetables and started a ton of potatoes baking. Russ, Emilie, Cory, and Sarah came over with their steaks and we had loads of fun.

I ran my two mile loop in 18:02 today, much better than my time of 22:04 on Friday. Emily and I are going to try swimming at the Sanderson tonight and see how out of shape I am. Back in the glory lifeguarding days, I could swim 500 meters in a little more than 8:00. Now I am hoping to swim 200 meters in at most 6:00 by late May.

All this time I had been misspelling Cory's name. Thanks Emily for the incorrect correction oh so long ago when I was putting his number into my phone :)

Thank you Holmes Cultural Diversity Center for inviting and or paying for Gloria Steinem to damn the wonderful campus of Mississippi State University. She is a murdering abortionist who has murdered her own child. As Mississippi has the lowest national rate of abortions it obviously makes sense to have a woman such as her defile many students at MSU.

Campus was closed at 1:00 PM. The big red line of bad stuff is almost here now and the weather sirens just went off. Emily is over in Columbus studying for her last nursing test ever. I finally got up with her so that she won't come back until it passes them instead of coming back at 5:00 like she planned. I have to study for formal languages too.

Corey and I are now both registered for the Tri it on Triathlon!

The girls had to shadow this week, which means slave labor for the Tupelo hospital. Emily and I went over to the base on Saturday and Corey cooked us breakfast for lunch. Then Corey, Joe, and I ran two miles around the base with an improved time. It is so nice and flat. After a while we headed to Tupelo and the girls made it to the hospital around 6:20 PM. Being respectable SO's, Corey and I went to Vanelli's which just so happened to be right in front of our hotel and got to see the comedy of Kurt Green. On Sunday Corey and I got up and tried to run a two mile loop. Got kinda lost and ran a little more than three and a half miles. Later we managed to find the bike store and a sporting goods store but they were closed. The mall sucks when you are looking for triathlon stuff. So we picked up some Pepper's for the girls around 4:00. After they left for work again we headed home.

I bought a first generation iMac on eBay for cheap, as-is. As usual as-is means broke, as in won't boot at all. So I checked out the pram battery and it was dead, replaced it and still no go.

Corey decided he wanted to run a 5k, the Run From the Sun in Jackson on April 15. So I decided that I want to do it to. This week is week one of a six week running program to get ready and I have actually been motivated enough to get out and run some. I have been interested in a triathlon for a while and found a nice short one, the Tri it on Triathlon in Birmingham. I have Corey talked into doing that one now too. The good thing is that it is six weeks past our 5k so we should have plenty of time to get ready.

Broke 300 on the odometer yesterday and am already at 307.3. So that means I have put 57 miles on since last Friday which is an average of 8.1 a day for this week. My yearly day average is up to 4.95 already.

Tuesday was the big night. After ushering the Ahn Trio Concert, I called Emily to see what she wanted for supper. She wanted a salad so I needed to go pick up lettuce for her. As I was driving off campus, I had a bright idea and headed back to the office to pick up her surprise iPod Nano. Rushed to the apartment and got out the ring. I dug her hidden engagement ring out and tangled it up in the Nano's headphones and put everything into the Nano box. Then I did a wonderful job of wrapping it with yellow and green tissue paper; it looked so professional! So I went to Food Max and got her some lettuce and thought that it would be good to get flowers so I picked up some redish tulips. I was starving myself so I went across the street and picked up some healty KFC. I drove across town and got to her apartment with her package in my laptop bag. She was really happy about the flowers and started making a salad. After a few minutes I told her that I was so proud of how much she studied for her last nursing exam and had gotten her a surprise. I gave her my expertly wrapped gift and she tore into it. A Nano box just kinda flips open like a CD case with the Nano on the right, so she got it opened and realized what it was. She laid it down and asked "is it real?" She was jumping up and down she was so excited. I asked her if she wanted to play with it because I had put a couple albums on it for her. So she opened the part of the Nano box that holds the "extra parts" and pulled everything out and arranged it on her bed. Then she picked up the headphones and said "what's this?" She pulled the headphones so hard I thought she might break them; I had threaded them through the ring with the thin connector side first, she pulled the earbuds through the ring. So I took the ring and got on a knee and asked her to marry me. Being the man who wraps things in green and yellow tissue paper, I put the ring on her right hand. She realized the mistake so I fixed it. Oh, and she said yes so all is well.

Thank you Reflector for being the highlight of my day. Just check out the third page of the February 24, 2006 edition. The picture of "SA elections commissioner Spencer Broocks" looks so innocent... but look a little closer. Notice the ID he is swiping through the reader? The mag strip is up out of the reader. Either this is a badly staged picture or the entire election was rigged!

Broke 250 miles today!

2006-02-22 16:47:09 658

It is now the 53rd day of the year and with 238.1 miles on the odometer that means I have averaged 4.49 miles per day. This is way below the average of 7.5 miles I want to ride per day this year.

I won and paid for a pair of D&G jeans on the most wonderful ebay for a whole $20 with the gourging in the $20 shipping from HK. So I get them and they do not fit; I'm a loser. So I relist them on ebay with a reasonable shipping; I am a winner. Over seven days the price climbs to an amazing $69; I am a winner! It ends today and the winning bidder is a brand new account from a newly created yahoo account; back to square one :(

Played intramural soccer last night on Kevin and Tory's team. First time I had touched a soccer ball in a while. It was a good game even though we lost; a team of random people with one sub vs a bunch of frat rats who play every season with eight subs.

Emily and I walked to Bin 612 after the game last night. It was pretty neat, a whole lot more packed that I remember of Roxie's and a lot younger crowd. The plan is for us to go eat there tonight. Anyway there is this Middle Eastern restaurant next door on Maxwell and the guy came and did his best to promote it to us. He even brought us a sample dessert which has some name I cannot pronounce. We got menus and they have a bunch of interesting food so we might be trying them out pretty soon.

Attention U2, you are not the Beatles. Tagging a "she loves you yeah yeah yeah" on the end of one of your crappy songs just makes you even lamer.

Emily and I ate at UMI for lunch yesterday. Emily had some smoked salmon nigirizushi. I was so proud of her that she was able to eat it and she actually liked it a lot. I had edomae chirashizushi (I call it Tokyo lunch) and it was great. Then we went to the Asian food mart next door and got all kinds of interesting things. I now have five pounds of sushi rice to go with my kilo of wasabi.

Driving through campus I saw what appears to have been a cop looking for speeders. In all my years at this school, this is the first time I ever saw an attempt at enforcing the speed limit.

This week was crazy. On Thursday David Garraway got in town late because of a train delay getting to pick up his new van. He officially inspected our chapter and it seemed that everything went well except that it was lateish before I got home but I still got my homework submitted. So I took Friday afternoon off to go to Oxford with David. Sesti and I had the privilege of riding in David's super pimp van that has not even made it home yet. We made it to Oxford early and got a late lunch at Abner's. Had several individual interviews with the chapter and then we went to a neat place called the Rib Cage on the square. Went back to campus and met with the entire chapter for a while. We got out of there a little before 10 and headed back to good ole Starkvegas. Emily, Nathan, and BJ were at Up Your Alley so David and I walked up there. After a bit we went to Whiskey Blues but they were at the fire code limit. Went into Old Venice for a bit but it was a bit too loud. Went back to the apartment and played Aquateen on the Tivo and opened my commemorative bottle of Makers. Good times...

Bush is rocking out in the State of the Union. So I am watching it Tivoed and am a few minutes behind... Anyway Cindy Sheehan is the world's biggest media whore, now she'll be like "Look at me, I've been oppressed!!!" Who cares because Alito is on the Supreme Court and abortion is in its final countdown.

The Challenger exploded twenty years ago tomorrow. I remember seeing our second best President on TV giving his speech. That and the memory of David coming home from his heart surgery and all of the baloons are the first memories I can come up with at 4 and 3.5 respectively.

The Post Modern Rock Show rules! So this means between my tv and Tivo, I have the most expensive video Ipod ever and it is not even portable.

Hit my first 100 miles of the year last night on the ole bikey bike. Puts me a little off my 7.5 miles per day goal, but it is too dark and cold still.

2006-01-17 19:46:16 645

This weekend was crazy. After David Garraway did not come up Thursday night, and then cancelled on me again on Friday, I finally got a copy of my proposed province bylaws to him on Saturday and we ended up reviewing them over the phone. I drove down to Jackson early Sunday morning so that I could eat lunch with Garraway, Sesti, and John Mongiovi. Anyway the Province Workshop ended up being awesome and afterward Sesti, Garraway, and I got to go meet with our colony at Tougalo and they were a bunch of great guys.

They bought fisting dildos on Mythbusters! And reinforced them! Anything to punch a shark...

Note to self, Robert Mondavi's Private Selection 2003 Zifandel is a favorite of Emily's. But according to me, it does not even compare to Mondavi's Reserve 1997 Cab which I just happen to have a bottle of.....

So poor poor Bill almost lost a hard drive today. He had been up since November 8 but I needed to take a stick of RAM out. So everything was good until I tried to reboot him and there was no primary drive. So I was sad. This was during lunch so I did not have time for surgery. After work I had the same problem. Strangely enough after plugging and replugging in various configurations, setting the jumper to cable select from master fixed it. Strange and scary. So I made a backup of my sesser.net database and put it somewhere safe. Time to automate those backups...

Unemployment Rate Falls to 4.9 Percent. Thank you George Bush. As the countdown begins to the time when the Demo-asses come up with pie graphs to prove that this is a "bad" thing and that the economy has been ruined by the Republicans. The stockmarket treated me well today, apparently people still need iPods and propane, and hopefully it will be an ongoing trend. I am hoping that Jobs' keynote address on Tuesday morning might even shoot Apple up higher. Google stock is freaking ridiculous, Steve (my trading buddy/coworker) is happy with it for now, but I am still happy I did not buy into it because the $200 market correction is coming. So go buy an iPod, or move to Michigan and use propane!

Thank you Tivo! I finally buy one of your wonderful DVR's and two weeks later you come out with the third generation.

Best stock market day ever. For me at least. Apple up almost $3 today so it will be down $10 tomorrow.

Yay, made it back last night at 11:45 after leaving Evansville at 4:45. Stopped twice in Kentucky, in Madisonville and in Fulton, right at the TN border. From there I made it all of the way to my apartment without stopping.

2005 ended with 905.7 miles on my second bike odometer. Going to reset it for the new year...

Made it to Lyrecrest just fine. Only made one kinda wrong turn, those highways that join and split and join again can get confusing. Especially when I only had eight turns listed on my instructions with no distances between places. We have been so busy, been going since 7:00 this morning and just finished up at about 11:30. At least I am learning a lot.
